Overview Module One

In this module, participants will examine inherited practices in Early Childhood Education (ECE) by examining the theories, policies, and cultural norms that shape the field.

Learners will recognize how these can influence practice by evaluating personal and societal beliefs and current practices. Critical reflection in this section will empower you to deconstruct “quality” and current practices, identify programming foundations, and lead meaningful change to improve early learning environments.

Consider:

  • Which inherited practices in ECE do you believe most influence your current programming?
  • How can you use critical reflection to deconstruct existing definitions of quality and advocate for meaningful change in early learning environments?

The estimated time to complete Module One based on content, activities, and assessments is ten hours (10 hours or 600 minutes).
