Local and Global Issues
In this activity, you will explore local and global issues, identify your core advocacies, and reflect on their impact on the children, families, colleagues, and communities you engage with.First, open each accordion menu to explore the listed local and global concerns, and reflect on their potential impact.
Which of these issues do you believe impacts your early learning centre or the community it serves?
After reflecting, list the issues you’ve identified, then move to the next page to explore how you might begin to address them more deeply.
Reflecting in Context
Reflect on your identified concerns and consider how the children, families, colleagues, and local communities you engage with may experience these issues.
As you reflect on the questions, record your thoughts in your journal and consider discussing them with your team. How might the identified issues impact the children and families you work with, and how can your practices respond to these lived realities?
In what ways do your local community members experience barriers or inequities related to these issues, and how might you support more inclusive and responsive environments?
How can your daily interactions foster a sense of collective responsibility toward these concerns within the centre's community?
Watch the videos and read the recommended chapter by Moss (2014) to help inform and inspire your reflections.
