Overview Module Three

In this final module you will be creating a list of community supports in British Columbia that can benefit educators, children and families. These can support your own knowledge and provide professional development for educators. Most importantly, continuing to learn about the field and inclusion can encourage educators to stay in the field feeling passionate about their work. 

Inclusion means that every child feels included (Vandenberg, 2025, personal conversation). We will hear about one educator's method of reaching out to other educators to find creative ways to look critically at their environment differently to move forward and support children in their practice. Creating a map can help educators to see what areas need to be changed or rethought. We can also shift our focus and look at day-to-day routines, transitions and environments in new ways. 

Learning outcomes serve as a valuable resource to guide your learning journey and ensure you can maximize your learning experience. The primary purpose of this section is to clearly communicate the intended learning outcomes of Module Three: Connections to community for inclusion: Accessing supports and partnerships in the community.

The learning outcomes for Module Three align with the content, activities, and assessments you will encounter throughout Module Three, enabling you to track your growth and identify improvement opportunities. 

After completing all activities and the reflective assessment within Module Three, participants will: 

• Identify and engage with community-based supports, partnerships, and advocacy opportunities that strengthen inclusive practices in Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Module Three Activities and Assessments

The activities within Module Three include:

• ACTIVITY 3.1 | Provincial Programs Explore provincial programs and resources and consider how they might be helpful to you in context.
• ACTIVITY 3.2 | Programs and Projects Consider local projects in context, watch an interview with Erin Waddell and consider how her story relates to the needs of the children and families in your program.
• ACTIVITY 3.3 | Another Look at a Local Support Program Consider how you might begin to analyze your program and explore some strategies together as a team to fill "holes". 
• Activity 3.4 | Mapping your community Create a chart of the services that support educators, children and families in your area.
