Activity 3.2 | Ethical Practice in Early Learning and Child Care

In your journal, write some observations and reflections on the following questions:

• Why is a Code of Ethics important for ECEs?
• How often have you referred to a Code of Ethics when faced with a dilemma in the workplace? Think of an example when the Code helped you make a decision or if it may have made a difference if you didn’t refer to it and reflect on this in your journal. 
• What do you think of the other examples of Codes of Ethics provided? Are there items in them that you wish were in the one guiding your practice? Reflect on why/why not.
