Overview Module One
Welcome to Module 1: Beginning to think about inclusivity
In this module, you will explore your understanding of an inclusive ECE program. Inclusivity is a concept that has been part of the early childhood discussion for many years. Using a social justice lens, you will consider how your program can provide a welcoming environment for all children, families and educators.
It is then the work of early learning for us to explore our work fully before we begin to think deeply about others.
In Wayi Wah (2022), Jo Chrona gives us food for thought as we reflect deeply on ourselves, our community and our practice:
"We need to remind ourselves to come to this work with the whole of ourselves. To do otherwise diminishes the work and diminishes us. In coming to know each other, we learn about how we each approach our work and frame the knowledge that we share." (Chrona, 2022, p.217)
As you embark on the first activity, you will be asked to think about what this quote means to you as you think deeper about Inclusion. The estimated time to complete Module One based on content, activities, and assessments is ten hours (10 hours or 600 minutes)
