Many companies, organizations, and institutions take the time and invest resources to develop their values, vision, and/or mission.

Here are some examples:

Companies and organizations expend time, effort, and financial resources to develop these statements and a vision. Why? To provide focus and direction, and guide decision-making, developing goals, and branding/marketing.

Similarly, the self-awareness of your values, vision, strengths, skills, and interests is fundamental and integral for informing your career decisions and knowing the value that you offer to your community, employers, and the world.

In addition, it is important to know whether or not your values align with a company or organization.

To illustrate, if an individual values social justice and equity, they might be inclined to pursue volunteer or employment opportunities at organizations in Victoria such as Vancouver Island Human Rights Coalition Society, Restorative Justice Victoria, or the John Howard Society of BC.

Here is another example, an individual has a high value for family and has two young children. Then, searching and perusing sites such as Canada's Top Family-Friendly Employers (2024) could be of interest.
