Checklist

  • Have you identified one transferable skill that you enjoy using, one you would rate yourself as “better than average” at using, and one that you really have not become immersed in yet?
  • Have you composed examples for each skill, which provides evidence of this skill from your Royal Roads courses?
Try to complete the above items before moving on.

Reflection Questions

  • What would inspire you to keep a journal of your experiences, knowledge, and skills as you acquire and strengthen them during your academic studies?
  • Which transferable skills are you proficient with and which skills will you invest in to develop further?

Take your time, and think about these questions before moving on.

Module Conclusion

There is no question employers seek candidates with hard skills to perform and fulfill the duties of the position.

By the same token, employers value job-seekers and employees who demonstrate competent transferable skills. Then, there is the added bonus—transferable skills will help you make successful transitions throughout your career, especially in uncertain times.

“Skill is the unified force of experience, intellect and passion.”
– John Ruskin
