Summary: Module One

In this module, we have thought of some of the elements that are present in a welcoming, inclusive program.

Reflecting on what inclusion means and articulating how your program will welcome a diversity of families and children is important. You can share your goals for being an inclusive centre with families and student educators.

In the subsequent two modules, you may think of more elements of inclusion that you would add to your vision.

Think about all that you have read, listened to and reflected on in this module and consider:

  • How would you describe your ideas of inclusivity to your colleagues at your centre?
  • How might you share them? How might you share these notions together?
We invite you to share your understanding and questions in a meeting, staff room, or conversation and then take some time to reflect on them in your journal. What did you learn from your discussion with your co-workers?
