Summary: Module One
In Module One, you explored the foundations of leadership in Early Childhood Education (ECE), by reflecting on your personal strengths, values, and the diverse communities you serve. Through a series of activities, you examined how your background, cultural identity, and lived experiences shape your leadership approach.

You developed a deeper understanding of the skills and strengths that contribute to leadership in early childhood settings. You recognized the roles and responsibilities involved in leading a team of ECEs and professional staff in ways that support the needs of children and families. This first module encouraged you to think critically about the cultural diversity present in early childhood programs and the importance of inclusive and responsive leadership.

Reflecting on allyship with Indigenous communities helped you consider the significance of place-based learning and ways to support reconciliation in your practice. You explored various leadership styles and identified your own approach. A deeper examination of democratic leadership allowed you to consider how this model can be applied in your communities and early years programs. By engaging in self-reflection and analyzing leadership in context, you have built a strong foundation for effective and culturally responsive leadership in early childhood education.
