Hello, and welcome to the Relational Leadership in Early Childhood Education course. I'm thrilled to provide you an overview of this course and invite you to begin thinking about what it means to responsively lead, co-create culture of collectivity within your early years, context, and cultivate intentional practices in Early Childhood Education. Whether you're here to challenge yourself, expand and deepen your leadership approaches, develop new practices and processes for inspiring your team or collaborate with new resources in the name of generative change, you've come to the right place! This course is organized into three modules. You will begin in Module one, Ethics of Care, interrogating what this term means, inherited myths and narratives about care, and the implications of an Ethics of Care for the field of education. From there, you'll move into Module two, Standpoints and Models, unpacking your personal social location, identifying social locations outside of your own, and examining interconnected systems and power relations. This module also introduces you to five leadership models that align with the field of early childhood education, while supporting you to research and experiment what relational leadership approaches, work within your local and personal context. In the third and final module, Culture of Centre, you will be introduced to examples of essential dispositions, required for relational leadership within 21st century conditions and guided through the ongoing processes of composing a commitment statement. This module asks you to bring together all that you've learned throughout the course, as well as to share your new learning and commitment statement back to your centre, colleagues, families, and wider communities. Throughout this course, you'll find videos, readings, podcasts, self reflections, and hands on activities designed to support connecting theory to practice. By the end of this course, you'll have gained confidence in your ability to responsively lead, develop relational and contextual leadership approaches, and gain the necessary knowledges for fostering dispositions and commitments grounded in intention. Thank you for taking this journey to grow as a leader and co-create change in the field of Early Childhood Education. We truly hope that you enjoy this course
