Course Overview

Welcome to Relational Leadership (Early Childhood Education)!

There are six separate sections within this Moodle site, including: 

  1. Welcome, and introduction Describes the background and purpose of the course and further defines and establishes the resource’s parameters.
  2. Module 1: An Ethics of Care An exploration of care in Early Childhood Education (ECE) through the lens of Feminist Ethics of Care, alongside an analysis of the BC Early Learning Framework (BCELF) and its impact on leadership practices.
  3. Module 2: Social Locations and Leadership ModelsAn exploration of social location and critical self-reflection, coupled with an introduction to five leadership models, including (1) Compassionate, (2) Democratic, (3) Head, Heart, and Hands, (4) Transformational, and (5) Visionary.
  4. Module 3: Cultivating Dispositions and Commitments Applying leadership theories to practice through developing a commitment statement, focusing on cultivating intentional, ethical, and responsive leadership. 
  5. Course Wrap-up Offers a course summary highlighting key learnings and a curated list of references related to the course content.
  6. Assessment: Includes the final assignment, which allows you to demonstrate what you’ve learned in the course.

Accessing the sections and modules in sequence is critical as the materials and activities are designed to be scaffolded to support your success and optimize your learning experience.
