Overview Module Two
Overview Module Two
Welcome to Module 2: Introduction to Creating Spaces
In Module One, you worked on Situating Self by looking into your own experiences and self-development. You thought about your family of origin and your relationships with diversity. There was a review of some of the different styles of leadership and you reflected upon the styles that fit within your own personality. It is useful to note that we are not tied to one style, different situations call for different reactions, but we often focus on one style that feels comfortable in everyday practice.
A leader is responsible for creating safe and welcoming spaces for everyone in the program. In this module we will consider two streams of diversity. You will look more closely at the histories of the First Peoples and increasing your understanding through an Indigenous lens. The first activity of Module Two briefly introduces working within an anti-racism lens and touches on inclusivity. Both topics require much deeper inquiry that is not included in this course. You are encouraged to continue to learn about anti-racism and inclusion.
The final activity in this module will guide you in researching the organizations and resources that will support your leadership role in early learning and childcare. The last assignment in this module will encourage you to build community relationships by interviewing someone from another centre.
Throughout Module Two, you will continue to record your reflections, composing your own personal resource for future reference.
