Early Childhood CurriculumAs defined by Manitoba's Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum (ELCC) Framework for preschool centres and nursery Schools, "Curriculum refers to how you organize opportunities for children to learn throughout the day" (p. 2), and further that Curriculum "is the way you design interactions, relationships, environments and experiences to create learning opportunities. It describes your intention to support children’s learning and development" (p. 2). Reflective PracticeThe Government of British Columbia (n.d.) defined reflective practice for ECE practitioners as "the ongoing observation and consideration of the environment, interactions, experiences and processes of a program. This practice supports professional learning for the educator and promotes continuous improvement for the program itself. Educators who regularly incorporate reflective practices into their professional practice are better able to make informed decisions about their pedagogy and the program and, as a result, often feel more engaged and satisfied with their work. Programs that are involved in regular observation and reflection are better able to respond in a timely and informed way to the emergent interests of children and the multi-faceted needs of families" (p. 4).
