Summary: Module Three

This module shared the knowledge and skills to manage financial resources in childcare settings effectively.

Being able to understand that you may have the knowledge and skills to manage the financial resources in the Childcare programs effectively may be a shared experience for you. Taking time regularly to sit with the assigned finance personnel for your department will help you to understand what has been in place and working, and not working. 

Finding out if any of your programs are in a deficit and, if so, how much? And why? What needs to be done to clear this matter up? 

Any outstanding or overdue reports, funding reports, financial reports or narrative reports that are outstanding or overdue.  Funding may be paused until these reports are submitted and accounted for.  They may then release the funds once all the reporting requirements are submitted and approved.  

Key topics included budgeting, salary management, funding opportunities, and navigating ministry funding agreements, with a focus on the financial landscape within British Columbia. You explored practical budgeting strategies emphasizing planning for anticipated expenses and unexpected costs and aligning financial practices with government guidelines.

You also gained insights into creating transparent systems for tracking income, expenses, and compliance with tax and payroll regulations.
