Medical Insurance Overview
Medical Insurance Overview
1. Introduction
RRU requires all students (international and domestic, graduate and undergraduate) to have valid basic health insurance to take part in any off-campus activity. This is typically through the student's provincial health insurance plan (such as MSP). For international students, RRU requires supplementary medical insurance until MSP qualifications are met. In most instances, this temporary insurance is provided through Guard.me
RRU employees and students travelling outside of Canada or in Quebec will not be covered by basic health insurance:
- RRU employees travelling for work-related purposes receive travel health insurance with up to $5 million in liability per lifetime per eligible person on the Pacific Blue Cross plan.
- RRU students and associate faculty are not covered under RRU's Pacific Blue Cross plan and are required to obtain their own coverage and sign RRU's liability waivers.
