Welcome to Module 1: Overview of Administration and Operation, Childcare Governance and Regulatory Bodies
In this module, participants will explore various governance structures, including private ownership, board-run, not-for-profit, corporate, and family childcare models, while gaining a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of government regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Education and Childcare, the ECE Registry, and Licensing authorities.
Participants will also focus on financial management, equipping participants with skills to develop budgets, identify funding opportunities, and navigate ministry funding agreements, including programs like subsidy, wage enhancements, $10-a-day initiatives, and supportive child care development funding.
Participants will explore human resource management topics, including hiring practices, understanding ECE certification levels, meeting staffing requirements, conducting evaluations, maintaining compliance with labour laws, and adhering to operational and marketing regulations as per licensing standards.
The estimated time to complete Module One based on content, activities, and assessments is ten hours (10 hours or 600 minutes)
